Sinful Colors: Unicorn

Sinful Colors Unicorn. This polish.... I'm really sad typing out this right now because I absolutely LOVE pastel yellows and this was one I've been wanting for AGES. And I just got it. And it sucks.

Four coats. Still looks nowhere near perfectly smooth and even...
One coat of streaky mess.

Two coats of streaky mess.

And I didn't even bother taking a pic of it at 3 coats because it practically is the same. Very streaky. The formula  is quite runny, causing pooling at the edges and it's really thin so you really don't get much coverage. The brushes with Sinful can be hit or miss, sometimes my bottle comes with a nice wider brush, and sometimes it comes with a brush that's really really thin... Like the Essie polishes, whose brushes I'm not a fan of either, however, their formula is a whooooole different story.
So anyway, I was thinking of ways to fix the formula issues because it's such a gorgeous color! And I tried layerning it over white:

Index and ring finger both have 2 coats, middle and pinky have 1.
My fault here actually, I didn't apply the white too evenly, and thus resulted in this hot mess. Although it is still not very nice, I definitely will wear this polish layered next time. Because at least over the white, the streakyness and pooling is reduced to a minimum.

Again... Disappointment, because I love this color!!!

  1. Why must yellow polishes be so difficult!! Definitely a pretty color but it would be so much better if the formula wasn't such a hassle.

  2. Ugh! I think I remember why I have this one sitting collecting dust. Very hard to work with, hopefully you will find a pastel yellow that has a good formula! I don't think I have one yet =/

    1. Yea, that's why I tend to get the glitters from Sinful because those dont have too many problems :P

  4. Ugh I feel your pain! I am wearing this one right now - FIVE coats and two coats of Seche Vite... so frustrating! I think Sinful Colors uses very cheap bristles for their brushes. Revlon makes a similar shade that is a dream to work with called Buttercup! It is nearly a one coater, I highly recommend it! Great blog :)
